You want to generate more revenue from the work you put into your business. You mean to pay more attention to marketing your services . . . but perhaps, like so many training consultants, you either avoid marketing because you're sure you'll hate it, or you just don't know where to start.
Free Special Report for Subscribers
When you sign up for Posts, Tweets, & Other Noise, you get a free guide to "The First 5 Questions to Ask Yourself About Your Web Site: Web Site Basics That Build Your Training Business," nearly 20 pages focused on key questions that determine whether your web site really makes a contribution to your training business. More information about this "thank you" report here.
I help training consultants find incremental, appropriate steps they can take to advance their marketing without feeling miserable or being overwhelmed. I share those ideas and advice through many channels, showing you how to draw long-term clients out of that vast sea of strangers who aren't working with you . . . yet.
The easiest way to keep track of all of these ideas and hints is to subscribe to my e-mail updates, Posts, Tweets, & Other Noise. Every Tuesday morning, you will get a very compact summary of the best of the previous week's writings and musings on marketing that works for your consulting business.
Why Take the e-Mail Approach?
Wait a minute, isn't getting e-mails the old-fashioned way of doing things? Shouldn't you be using RSS feeds and "aggregators" to get all this information?
You should do whatever is most convenient for you. You can subscribe to my RSS feed, or follow my Twitter account, if that's the way you like to do things.
But don't dismiss a subscription to my e-mail list, as it offers several advantages:
- It gathers more stuff in one place. I write blog posts here, but I also Tweet provocative questions on Twitter, and have an extensive library of articles for training clients. I distribute articles as an "expert author" through the Ezine Articles service, and write guest articles on blogs and newsletters for others. When you get my weekly e-mail update, I will concisely point you to recent writings in all these venues, so you don't have to hunt them down.
- It organizes my ideas in efficient ways. Far from an information dump, Posts, Tweets, & Other Noise is a succinct guide to information. In any given issue, you will see some items that you want to read immediately, and some, frankly, that you decide to skip. The point is, with a logically arranged summary, you save time, quickly finding the items that are most relevant to your business. See the "What You Will Get " section below for more about what you can expect.
- You don't have to remember to do anything, information automatically flows to you. You don't have to visit my blog, or my Twitter page, or even your news reader or aggregator. You already check e-mail on a regular basis, and when you do, you'll find helpful information waiting for you in an easy-to-use format.
- You don't have to know how to do anything new. If all this talk about "feeds" and "aggregators" is a mystery to you, and just sounds like another headache, e-mail updates are the way to go. Just using the form at the upper left to submit your name and e-mail -- with my personal guarantee to respect your privacy -- you can quickly confirm your subscription, and then sit back and wait for my news to come to you.
- Each e-mail is handcrafted to be useful to you. There are lots of automated systems to gather up feeds, blog posts, and more and stuff them into an e-mail. Forget that! I will take the time to pull together recent writings, to organize them logically, and sometimes to point you to a past article or post that adds to the discussion. Automatic feeders can't connect related resources across time and space the way a human can!
What You Will Get With Each Issue
The content of each issue of Posts, Tweets, & Other Noise depends on what and where I have been writing, as well as my other professional activities. But here are some guidelines:
- Very brief summaries with links will dominate. In other words, you'll see a sentence or two about a blog post here, with a link to the post, so you can quickly decide for yourself if it is something you want to check out. You won't have to read through a ton of text to decide whether a topic is relevant, nor will you scroll endlessly down the e-mail to get to the next topic. Short, quick, convenient.
- Core activities: this blog and my Tweets will always be included, along with other venues where I regularly provide content.
- Unusual activities: if I perform a guest post on another blog, participate in an interview, publish a print article, create a new product or service, schedule a presentation or seminar, or am cited by someone else, I'll no doubt mention that briefly. In short, I'll let you know what I am up to.
- Other helpful content: pointers to items that might reinforce or flesh out recent topics, and to services that may prove useful. For instance, if I or an associate have an archived article that touches on a more recent post, I'll mention it. That way, you aren't limited to only the most recent takes on the issue. And from time to time, you may hear about a product or service that I use, or that I have developed, that I think may help your business -- always in the same concise summary + link format.
How Does It Work?
Posts, Tweets, & Other Noise is a weekly e-mail newsletter. Once you sign up, you'll receive an e-mail every Tuesday morning. It is easy, quick, and convenient.
Don't worry, you're not signing up for an endless stream of sales pitches from me. I drop out of e-newsletters that constantly bombard me with their "latest offers," and I have made it easy for you to do the same: a link to unsubscribe is included at the end of every issue, so you are in complete control.
And I never share my mailing list : Please read my privacy policy below.
By the way, Posts, Tweets, & Other Noise is distributed simply as a plain text e-mail: no images or "hidden code" to worry about, which will make your firewall (and your technical support) happy!
How to Subscribe
To sign up for Posts, Tweets, & Other Noise:
- Simply enter your name and e-mail address on the form in the upper left corner of this page and click on the "Subscribe" button. When you have done that, you'll land on a page acknowledging that you have submitted your information.
- Important: You will then receive an e-mail asking you to click on a link to confirm your subscription. (This protects you from being signed up by anyone else, even by me!)
- When you confirm your subscription, you will land on a web page on this site verifying that you are in the system, and
- You will receive an additional Thank You e-mail stating that your subscription is confirmed. Attached to that e-mail will be you an additional "thank you," in the form of my special report on "The First 5 Questions to Ask Yourself About Your Web Site: Web Site Basics That Build Your Training Business".
That's all there is to it, the whole process takes a matter of seconds.
Your PRIVACY is assured
The "rules of the game" are simple:
- The signup process ensures that you really want to subscribe. I cannot just dump lists of people onto my mailing list, without their permission, not that I would ever want to.
- I never share your e-mail address with anyone!
- Your IT staff will be glad to know that I send simple text e-mails, with no images or other HTML tricks to check on whether you've opened the e-zine or clicked on any links in the newsletter.
- You can easily unsubscribe (or update your address) at any time, using the links contained at the end of every single issue.
