Concentrating on pursuit of your ideal types of clients, rather than hoping to appeal to everyone under the sun, makes you more efficient, allows you to charge more appropriate fees, consolidates your status as an expert in your field, and affords opportunities for recycling services and marketing content for maximum return on the effort you put into them.
Focusing on a target market helps you explore your clients' needs in depth, leveraging similarities across clients to develop a deeper understanding of, basically, why they need you.
